CoNote

Categories

The seven system categories that classify and color every note on your timeline.

Every note belongs to one category — a fixed, system-defined classification that colors its bar on the timeline and makes a busy period scannable at a glance. Categories are not editable; for your own grouping, use tags instead.

The seven categories

| Category | What it's for | |----------|---------------| | Deployment | Code releases, container publishes, shipped changes | | Campaign | Marketing campaign starts, pauses, budget changes | | Configuration | Tag-manager changes, feature flags, A/B tests | | Incident | Downtime, error spikes, alerts | | SEO | Algorithm updates, ranking changes | | Content | Blog posts, page publishes, copy changes | | External | Weather, holidays, industry events outside your control |

How categories get assigned

  • Integrations assign a category automatically — GitHub uses Deployment, Tag Manager uses Configuration, Uptime uses Incident, and so on.
  • Manual notes let you pick the category when you log them.

The color coding is what makes correlation visual: an Incident (red) sitting right after a Deployment is a story you can read across the timeline without opening a single note.
